Birth Support FAQs
-
Honestly, because it’s so important to click with your doula. Think about it—you’re inviting someone into one of the most personal and life-changing experiences you’ll ever have. We need to make sure we vibe, right?
The consultation is really just a chance to chat and get to know each other. You can ask all your questions, see what I’m all about, and decide if I’m the kind of support you want during your birth. No pressure, just two people figuring out if we’re a good fit.
Plus, it’s important for me too! I want to make sure I’m the best doula for your needs and that you feel totally comfortable with me by your side. It’s all about building that relationship—you deserve someone who feels like part of your team!
-
I’m passionate about giving you the best birth experience possible. I’m there to support you through every moment, from the sweet and quiet to the intense and challenging. I’m not afraid to get into the thick of it—hip squeezes, bodily fluids, you name it. I’m here for it all. I’ll help you stay calm, strong, and empowered. Whether you're rocking an unmedicated birth or navigating a different path, I’ll be by your side to help you feel confident and supported in every decision. No judgment, just 100% dedicated care and a deep commitment to making your birth experience the best it can be.
-
If you want someone who’s fully dedicated to supporting you during labor—someone who’s there to help you make informed decisions, stay calm, and feel in control—a doula is your girl. I’ll be there to offer reassurance, help you through the tough moments, and advocate for your wishes, no matter what comes up. You deserve that kind of support!
-
Absolutely! In fact, I love working with partners to make them feel confident and included in the process. I’ll show them how to support you, help them stay calm when things get intense, and give them a little break when they need it. Birth is a team effort, and I’m there to support you both!
-
When should you start looking for a birth doula? Honestly, sooner is better! By the end of your first trimester, it’s a good idea to start exploring your options. This gives you time to chat with different doulas, see who clicks with you, and make sure they’re available when you need them.
Dates can book up quickly (seriously, we fill up fast!), so locking in your doula by the end of your second trimester is a smart move. Plus, if you book early, you can take advantage of payment options and spread things out—because let’s face it, babies come with a lot of stuff. Starting early just makes everything a little easier!
-
I’m all for home births, birth centers—anything that feels right for you! I’ll help you feel ready and supported no matter where you’re giving birth. Your birth, your way—let’s make it happen, and I’ll be right there with you.

While I’m a student midwife gaining hands-on experience, I’m not licensed to provide midwifery care just yet. This means I don’t perform physical exams, take blood pressure, or handle clinical tasks like fundal measurements or palpations. My role is all about offering emotional, physical, and informational support, so you feel confident and cared for. If any medical needs arise, I’ll help you communicate with your midwife or healthcare team—they’re the ones in charge of that part!
-
Advocacy is one of the cornerstones of my birth support. I believe that the power of advocacy belongs to you, the parents. It’s up to you to communicate your birth preferences and needs to your providers in a way that feels comfortable and empowering. I’m here to help you figure out the best ways to communicate your wishes clearly and confidently, ensuring that your voice is heard, respected, and supported throughout your birth experience. I will never make decisions for you, but I’ll help you feel prepared and confident in making those decisions yourself.
-
I wholeheartedly believe every family has the right to choose how, where, and with whom they welcome their baby into the world. It’s such a deeply personal decision, and I fully respect that. However, I don’t attend free births.
It’s not because I don’t believe in you—because I absolutely do! It’s just a boundary I’ve set for myself. Supporting a free birth comes with a lot of liability, and as much as I love this work, I have to keep my own family in mind too.
That said, I’m still here for you in so many other ways! I can support you throughout your pregnancy by helping you plan, prepare, and feel confident about your birth. Once your little one arrives, I’ll be ready to step in with postpartum support to help you settle into your new normal. While I can’t be at your actual birth, I’ll still be cheering you on and offering all the guidance I can.
Postpartum Support FAQs
-
You can start postpartum doula services as soon as you bring your baby home. I recommend reaching out to book your services in advance (ideally before your baby arrives) so we can coordinate a schedule and I can be there for you right when you need me most.

While family and partners are a huge support, a postpartum doula provides professional, focused care specifically for you, the new mom. I’m here to offer expert advice, hands-on help with baby care, and much-needed emotional support to ensure you’re taking care of yourself as well. Sometimes, it’s nice to have a neutral, non-judgmental person on your team too!
-
I offer guidance on breastfeeding basics, including latch, positioning, and keeping baby calm during feedings. I’ll help you establish a feeding schedule tailored to your baby’s needs, ensuring a calm and comfortable experience for both of you. If more in-depth support is needed, like overcoming challenges with latch or supply issues, I’ll refer you to a lactation consultant (IBCLC) for additional help. I’m here for the basics, but when it comes to advanced care, I’ll make sure you’re in great hands!
-
No worries! When you reach out, we’ll chat about your specific needs, and I’ll help you figure out how best to support you. Every new mom is different, and I’m here to customize your postpartum care to help you feel confident and well-supported.
