Hi! I’m Alyssa!

I’m a mom of five, and honestly, it’s my favorite thing about my life. It’s wild and messy most days, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. When I’m not chasing after my kids or figuring out what’s for dinner, I’m usually supporting other families as a doula or deep in midwifery work—birth stuff has just always felt like where I’m meant to be.

Outside of that, I’m pretty simple. I love music, especially when it’s loud and playing while I’m cleaning or cooking. Books are my escape when I can find a quiet minute (which, let’s be honest, is rare!). And coffee? It’s basically a love language at this point. I also enjoy a good trip to thrift stores or T.J. Maxx—sometimes you just need that little retail reset, you know?

Life’s busy and chaotic in the best way, and I’m really grateful for it. If we end up working together, I can’t wait to get to know you and witness your birth story.

Why did I become a Doula?

So, I’ve birthed three babies—all completely different experiences. My first was in a hospital in Parkersburg with an OB, and like a lot of first-time moms, I ended up with an induction. It was… a lot. After that, I knew I wanted something different.

For my second, I found midwives and had this beautiful, peaceful birth at a free-standing birth center. That experience totally changed me. I fell in love with the midwifery model of care and out-of-hospital birth. I started soaking up everything I could about birth outside the hospital—it just felt right.

By the time I was pregnant with my third, I was all in. We planned a homebirth with a midwife, and it was amazing… until it wasn’t. I had a postpartum hemorrhage and had to transfer to the hospital by EMS. That part—being in that in-between space—was hard. The transfer wasn’t because of anything my midwife did wrong; it was the gap between EMS and hospital care that made it traumatic. That experience stuck with me.

After that, I knew I couldn’t ignore the pull anymore. I decided to become a doula and eventually a midwife, because I wanted to be part of the change. I wanted families in our community to have better experiences, better care, and better collaboration between birth workers and hospitals.

Now, I get to support families during their pregnancies and births, but I also work behind the scenes—building relationships, working on legislative efforts, and advocating for real change in maternity care in our state. This isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am. I have big goals for what birth support should look like here, and I’m committed to seeing it through.

I’m so thankful I get to do this and can’t wait to keep growing, learning, and showing up for families like yours. Birth is wild, wonderful, and life-changing—and having someone in your corner makes all the difference. Let’s do this together.

My Approach to birth

❤️ Birth belongs to the Mother.
❤️ Knowledge is power—understanding your options leads to confident choices.
❤️ Mindset matters. Your beliefs, energy, and preparation shape your experience.
❤️ You deserve a birth team that guides you, listens deeply, and honors your voice.
❤️ Informed consent isn’t optional—you have the right to honest, clear information.
❤️ You are the decision-maker. This is your body, your baby, and your birth.
❤️ I’m here to hold space, offer guidance, and be your steady presence when you need it.
❤️ Trust, respect, and open communication create safety and empowerment.
❤️ Birth outcomes can’t be guaranteed, but how you are supported always can.
❤️ You are strong. You are capable. You were made for this.
❤️ You’ve got this—and I’ve got you.

My passion for supporting birthing journeys comes from a deep belief in the power of physiologic birth and the magic that happens when you are fully informed and supported in your choices. As your doula, I’m here to walk alongside you, offering knowledge, resources, and steady support so you can make decisions that feel right for you.

I believe every birth is as unique as the person experiencing it. That’s why my care is always tailored to you. Whether we’re navigating pregnancy, labor, or postpartum, your safety, comfort, and confidence are always at the heart of my work.

One of the most important things I’ve learned—through my own births and in this work—is that education and mindset make a huge difference. Knowing your options, understanding the process, and learning how to advocate for yourself helps you feel grounded and confident in your decisions. Choosing a birth guide—whether that’s a midwife, OB, or someone else—who listens to you and respects you is key. Because the power of birth doesn’t belong to me, or your midwife, or your partner. It’s yours. Always.

Now, I want to be real with you: I can’t promise you a certain birth outcome. I wish I could. Even with research showing that doulas lower the risk of interventions and complications, the risk is never zero. Birth is unpredictable. But I can promise you this: I will be there. I will support you. I will hold you up and give you all the tools and encouragement to have an empowering birth—no matter how your birth story unfolds. Birth trauma can happen in ways we can’t always prevent, but one thing that’s always remembered is how you were treated during that experience. I will be your constant companion. I will be in your corner.

We’ll walk this path together with trust, respect, and open communication. You’ve got this. And I’ve got you.

blending heart-centered support with evidence-informed care, embracing a holistic perspective that honors the mind, body, and spirit.
